Ability Shetland meet up at Mossbank

Our Development Officer, Sharyn, was delighted to visit Mossbank Public Hall on 9 June to give a presentation at one of Ability Shetland’s fortnightly club meet-ups.

The group brings together adults who face barriers to social opportunities, making it a wonderful opportunity to share the story of Wild Skies Shetland and the inspiration behind the project.

During the session, Sharyn showcased some of the multimedia experiences visitors can discover at the Unst Sky Trail’sSky Stops and explained how local communities played a key role in bringing the Planetary Trail to life. The audience listened with great interest, asked thoughtful questions, and enjoyed learning more about Shetland’s spectacular dark skies and the experiences available across the trail.

Club Leader Tracy McKenzie shared her feedback after the visit:

“It was absolutely fascinating… they talked about it all the way home and were so excited about it.”

Hearing such positive feedback is incredibly rewarding. We hope to welcome some of the group to Unst in the future so they can experience the trails for themselves.

The visit has also inspired us to continue exploring new ways to make our trails, interpretation and experiences accessible to even more people, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to connect with Shetland’s remarkable skies.
