About

Wild Skies Shetland

Wild Skies Shetland is a social enterprise, a new Unst-based charity, which aims to showcase the ever-changing sky in all it’s glory, through all the seasons.

Wild Skies Shetland is a new, Unst-based charity which aims to showcase the local skies in a wide variety of different ways. This work is under way, developing an Unst Sky Trail which we plan to have open in the autumn of 2021.

Born at a kitchen table in Unst, Britain’s most northerly island, in 2017 Wild Skies Shetland is now a registered charity with 7 trustees. Our aim is to benefit the community of the island of Unst by enhancing enjoyment of Unst’s beautiful and varied skies which feature the northern lights, simmer dim, storms, dark skies and many other wonders. We do this by organising a variety of sky-related events and are developing an Unst Sky-trail, which will be available in 2022. Our ultimate aim is to construct some sky-watching shelters in Unst.
