Wild Skies Shetland is a social enterprise, an Unst-based charity, which showcases the ever-changing sky in all it’s glory, through all the seasons.
Wild Skies Shetland is an Unst-based charity which aims to showcase the local skies in a wide variety of different ways through story-telling, music, history and much more. The Sky Trail is now open with each stop telling a story of the sky in the MOST beautiful locations in Unst.
Born at a kitchen table in Unst, Britain’s most northerly island, in 2017 Wild Skies Shetland is now a registered charity with 7 trustees. Our aim is to benefit the community of the island of Unst and its visitors by enhancing enjoyment of Unst’s beautiful and varied skies which feature the northern lights, simmer dim, storms, dark skies and many other wonders. We do this by organising a variety of sky-related events and we have developed the Unst Sky Trail and the Planet Trail at Saxa Vord, where you can walk through the solar system while taking in the breathtaking views of Unst.
