Changing places and faces

It is with mixed emotions that we announce that Catriona Waddington is stepping down from her role as Chair of Wild Skies Shetland.

Catriona has been at the heart of the organisation since its earliest feasibility stages and played a key role in establishing the charity. Throughout her time as Chair, she has generously shared her expertise, commitment and vision, helping to shape Wild Skies into the thriving organisation it is today. We owe her an enormous debt of gratitude and simply would not be where we are without her dedication and support.

We would also like to thank her husband, Robbie Brookes, whose extraordinary photography and practical assistance have contributed immensely to our work over the years. While we are sad to see them leave Shetland, we wish them every happiness and success as they begin a new chapter on mainland Scotland.

At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Melanie Mouat as a new Trustee.

Mel lives in Unst and brings valuable experience in marketing and creative business. She has already played an important role in Wild Skies, managing our social media and newsletters for over a year – including creating our very first issue back in December 2025.

As part of our core team, Mel continues to bring enthusiasm, creativity, and fresh ideas to our projects, and we are thrilled to have her join the Board of Trustees.
